Black Lives Matter Protest, Amsterdam

June 10th, 2020

In the aftermath of George Floyd's death in Minneapolis, MN, on May 25th, 2020, protests have been organized throughout the USA, as well as in Europe. People gathered in London, Berlin, Paris and Amsterdam to peacefully protest against systematic racism and police violence. The photos have been taken at the second protest in Amsterdam, which has been held at the Nelson Mandela Park. At first the protest was supposed to be held at the Anton de Kom square, but the organisers changed locations because more than 5.000 people were planning to participate. It has been estimated that around 15.000 people were present during the protest at the Nelson Mandela Park. Both Anton de Kom as Nelson Mandela are prime examples of black people fighting for equality.
